Let us introduce you to the inaugural, New Zealand World Latin Dance Cup.
This event will be New Zealand’s National Latin Dance Championships and will be the Official Qualifier to the World Latin Dance Cup to be held in Miami in December 2016.
The World Latin Dance Cup was created by Albert Torres 5 years ago, to challenge the little boy and girl inside each of us to live our dreams and ‘Create Unity Through Salsa’. The New Zealand World Latin Dance Cup will provide us with the opportunity to network with other like-minded individuals who share a common goal of competing and offers a means to up-skill our dance and music techniques. In doing so, we will be encouraging all sectors of the dance community (from Beginner to Advanced) to participate in a national Latin Dance Championship.
This event also gives us a national forum to educate, train and support the dance community in the different forms of Latin dance and music with the aim of fostering and increasing public interest in this art form. In doing this, we aim to promote and improve the standard of Latin dancing throughout New Zealand.
Through the forms of dance and music, individuals, groups and families within the community are able to maintain their physical (tinana), mental (hinengaro), spiritual (wairua) and family (whānau) well-being.
